The Forks High School Powerlifting Club made an impressive statement at the Washington State Powerlifting Meet held Saturday, May 2, at Olympia High School. In just their first year of existence, the club proudly brought five athletes to compete at the state level after participating in three qualifying events throughout the season.
Representing Forks High School and the surrounding community were Nery Jeronimo, Logan Ramsey, Kolton Cornish, Samuel Lopez Rivera, and Darinel Garcia Lopez. Each athlete demonstrated not only strength and determination, but also sportsmanship and pride in representing their school.
Leading the way for Forks was Darinel Garcia Lopez, who earned an outstanding 2nd-place finish in his weight class. Kolton Cornish also delivered a strong performance, placing 5th in his division. Their efforts highlight the rapid development and competitive potential of this young program.
The Forks Powerlifting Club has quickly built a reputation for hard work and resilience, and the team is already setting its sights on the future. This summer, the athletes are planning to compete in their first USA Powerlifting event, taking another step forward in their growth as competitors. Additionally, the team is awaiting confirmation on whether three of its lifters have qualified for the national meet typically held in March, based on their performances at the state competition.
The success of the program would not be possible without the strong support of the Forks community. The club extends its sincere gratitude to local businesses and organizations for their generous donations and encouragement throughout the season.
As the program continues to grow, the Forks Powerlifting Club remains committed to its mission: building strong athletes, strong character, and keeping Forks strong.
