‘Blackbeard the Pirate’ takes the stage

Missoula Children’s Theater makes stop in Forks

What starts as a lazy day at the beach quickly turns into mystery and adventure when the search for Blackbeard’s treasure begins!

Tales both past and present lead us on a search of untold riches. Just where has Blackbeard and his crew hidden their legendary treasure?

That’s what those who attended performances of the production of “Blackbeard the Pirate” got to find out last weekend as Missoula Children’s Theater made its yearly stop in Forks.

The local cast featured Emma-Grayce Fleck as Blackbeard; Casadie Whorton, Keana Rowley, Chelsea Simons, Haley Lynn Barker and Kinley Rondeau as his bearded Pirate Crew; Finn Conlon, Chloe Gaydeski-St. John, Annika Leverington, Whitlee Prose and Eden Watson as the Sailors; and Julia Biciunas, Sarah Curtis, Emery Damron, Riyan Goetze, Julieanne Haag and Savannah Meyer as the Beach Bums.

A gang of nautical creatures also joined the fun!

Lexi Hawkins, Skye Hestand, Emma LaCross, Adison Richard, Malachi Rowley and Riley Wallace performed as the cranky Crabs; Savannah Hartenstein and Brodie Fletcher were the cantankerous Crocodiles; Ona Collins, Julianne Cook, Leah Gilbertson, Bailey Johnson, Eva Torres, Jlynn Vessey and Kendyl Woody were the melodious Mermaids; Harmon Kohout, Evan LaCross, Wendy Nowak and Justin Sandoval were the secretive Seaweed Creatures; and Destiny Ashue, Addelynn Brenner, Liam Coburn, Kinzie Daniels, Madelyn Ford, Malcolm Hagans-Hamilton, Elliana Hillcar, Alex Leask, Brynlee Rigby, Ryder Romberg, Ryder Seeber-Voyles, Emory Soha, Ariah Torres, Elia Torres and Declan Weekes performed as the precocious Parrots.

The cast also included Jack Delgado as Lt. Maynard and Logan Hestand as Sam the Clam.

Kaylee Ellis, Kelsi Hess, Logan Hestand and Caila Whorton served as assistant directors throughout the week.

The light director was Kenneth Turner (Forks High School Class of 2017).

The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Forks is presented locally by Quillayute Valley School District with support from many wonderful volunteers and the Misty Valley Inn B&B.
