Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

The Forks High School Drama Club is rehearsing for its upcoming performances on Mother’s Day weekend. The play is called “Stranded!” By Megan Orr, it is a comedy about a group of unlikely companions that are stranded on a deserted island and forced to survive.
There is a professional basketball player, a fitness granny, a presidential candidate, Miss America, a cranky sports fisherman, a computer geek, a survival scout, an average teenager and a band of mini-pirates led by a pirate queen.
It is hard to miss but in case you have not seen it, the brightly colored Jesus Loves You bus has been in town; inside the bus are Cas Sowinski and his dog Hey Girl.
What is going on in the West End this week? White Cane Days Auction, Canning Workshop, Kids Fishing Day, a free concert and gardening classes are just some of the things happening this weekend.

Nathon Damron began working as a plumber with his father on the weekends. It was Los Angeles and even the stars have plumbing problems although Damron didn’t want to give names, in case they read the Forum, he did share a story about a couple of short actors that are married, one was in “Cheers” and one was in “Taxi,” that had a rule that when working at their home the plumbers could not look at or talk to them.
Usually when you name something Rainfest it does not rain, but this year it was really a wet one. The umbrella decorating event had about 20 decorators according to organizer Carl Chastain, way down from last year.
Forks High School senior Reis Lawson’s senior project is raising awareness about the Olympic Corrections Center’s dog Program. Lawson recently brought Buddy, one of the dogs in the program, to a Forks Chamber of Commerce meeting.
The 14th annual Piecemakers ‘Fabric of the Forest’ quilt show is scheduled to be held during the annual RainFest celebration set for Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27. The quilt show along with vendors will be held at the Forks High School Auxiliary Gym on Spartan Avenue. The hours are Friday 12-6, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-4.
