CCGS – Civil War presentation

Saturday, January 17, the County Genealogical Society will host a program featuring Brian Rhinehart, a professional genealogist, who will speak on the topic “Was My William Smith in the Civil War?”

Brian Rhinehart specializes in research and record retrieval related to 19th-century military records (Civil War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Indian Wars, and the Spanish-American War) and federal land records (bounty land, homestead land, etc.). He holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University.

In this presentation, Brian talks about resources to help determine if you have a Civil War soldier in your family tree, with an emphasis on differentiating between soldiers who had common names. This war affected everyone living in our country at that time.

All are invited to attend the program which is offered at no cost. One can either attend at the Society’s Research Center located at 403 E. 8th Street in Port Angeles or watch it via Zoom. For the Zoom codes, contact the society at 360-417-5000 or email your request two days in advance at askus@clallamcogs.org.

Attendees are requested to sign in 15 to 30 minutes before the program begins at 10 a.m.
