Swearing in at City Council

Forks city council was held Monday evening with family and friends of council members and the mayor attending for Oaths of Office ceremonies.

In public comment Lissy Andros shared that the Visitor Information Center saw a record number of people in 2025, up 16% over last with an ending total of 90,489, stopping and signing in.

Council member appointments were made to the Peninsula Regional Transportation Planning Organization (Corey Pearson with Vilkesh Patel as alternate) and to the Clallam Transit System Board (Kaylan Kimball).

Forks resident Jason Huling was appointed to the Forks Planning Commission.

The council approved a legal settlement in the King, et al., v City of Forks case resulting from a Nov. 2021 flooding incident. City of Forks attorney Rod Fleck shared it has been three years of negotiations, and the settlement will end further legal fees for both parties; $350,000 will be paid to litigants by the city’s insurance pool.

Fleck also discussed an insulation bid for the Industrial Park and stated that Riverside has signed a lease with the city on Jan. 8, 2026.

In council member reports Joe Soha expressed concerns from citizens regarding the chip seal project. Pearson shared that a GoFundMe account she had created for the Baker family, who had a recent house fire, had raised$50,000. She praised the community.
