The Board of Clallam County Commissioners announces openings on Advisory Boards and Committees. Specific categories are noted where applicable.
AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION (6)
Acts in an advisory capacity to research agricultural issues, provide information and convey the interests and desires of farmers and others in the agricultural community to the Board of Commissioners. There are openings for representatives of Farmers in Commissioner Districts I, II, and III; At-large farmer, and (2) Non-farmer At-large.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ADVISORY BOARD (2)
Established to act to advise the Board of Commissioners on implementation and future funding, from the 1/10 of 1 percent sales tax authorized by RCW 82.14.460. There are openings for representatives of Tribal and Private Provider of Chemical Dependency Services not contracting for funding.
BOUNDARY REVIEW BOARD (2)
Autonomous board that, upon request by any jurisdiction affected by a boundary change such as an annexation proposal, reviews the proposal and has broad powers to determine logical boundaries, transfer of services, and other matters operating under the authority of RCW 36.93. There are openings for representatives of a Governor Appointee and a Special District Appointee.
BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS (4)
Hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the Building Official relative to the application and interpretation of the codes adopted in Clallam County Code 21.01, Building and Construction Code. There are openings for representatives of (2) Alternate, an Architect and an ICC Certified Building Official, Building Inspector, or Plans Examiner.
CLALLAM BAY/SEKIU COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM (3)
Assists in gathering and analyzing information, making recommendations, and advancing the orderly growth and development of the area. There is an opening for representatives of (3) At-large positions.
CLALLAM BAY/SEKIU SEWER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (1)
Responsible for gathering accurate information regarding Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer operations, rates and billing procedures, and making recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There is an opening for one committee member position.
DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE (3)
Volunteers act in an advisory capacity to plan and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and the Department of Health and Human Services regarding programs and services for persons who have intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, other neurological impairments, or developmental disabilities and their families through service contracts with provider agencies. There are openings for (3) committee member positions.
FAIR ADVISORY BOARD (2)
Assists the County in delivery of Fair services to its residents and visitors. Under the direction of the Board of Commissioners through the Director of Parks, Fair, and Facilities, the advisory board holds public meetings as necessary, advises and assists the County in developing reasonable rules, fees, and regulations for the operation of the County Fair; and program development strategies. There are openings for representatives of the City of Port Angeles and Arts/Photography.
HERITAGE ADVISORY BOARD (2)
The Board is responsible for advising the Clallam County Commissioners on various matters related to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the County. There are openings for (2) representatives of District I.
HOMELESSNESS TASK FORCE (4)
The Board is responsible for advising the Clallam County Commissioners on various matters related to the issues regarding homelessness in Clallam County. There are openings for representatives of Health and Human Services Department, Tribal Government, WorkSource, and Homeless or Formerly Homeless.
LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (1)
Statute requires an advisory committee to review all proposed changes to expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund and to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There is an opening for a collector of the tax.
MARINE RESOURCES COMMITTEE (1)
The Marine Resource Committee advises the County Commissioners regarding issues related to the marine resources of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its bays, estuaries, and inlets within the borders of Clallam County. There is an opening for a representative of an At-Large position.
PENINSULA HOUSING AUTHORITY (1)
Serves Clallam and Jefferson Counties and operates under a contract with the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to provide and maintain low-income housing for residents of Clallam County. The Peninsula Housing Authority Board of Commissioners primary role is to establish policy for the public housing program including personnel, occupancy, lease, grievance, and rent collection. The Board also selects and employs the Executive Directors of the Authority who is responsible for day-to-day operation and carrying out Board policies. There is an open position for one representative of Clallam County.
PERMIT ADVISORY BOARD (7)
Makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and Director of the Department of Community Development for changes in the building code and permitting. There are open positions for representatives of Architect, Building Designer, Building Trades, Economic Development Council, Environmental Consultant, Propane/Woodstove Contractor, and Manufactured Homes/Mobile Home Association.
SHERIFF’S CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (5)
Advisory to the Sheriff’s Office to provide an open link of communication between the Sheriff and the community. There are openings for representatives of Clallam Bay/Sekiu, Forks and unincorporated area, Quileute Tribe, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, and Law and Justice
SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (4)
This committee is comprised of representatives of each of the incorporated cities, the waste industry, tribal councils, Clallam County, state and federal agencies, private industry, and at-large. The committee assists in the implementation of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal, and reviews and comments on proposed changes to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. There are openings for representatives of Solid Waste Industry (West Waste Recycling) Alternate, Tribal Government Alternate, City of Forks Alternate, and Business Community Alternate.
TRAILS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (3)
Makes recommendations to the Board and other appointed bodies of Clallam County government regarding non-motorized transportation and trail-related issues. Western Area Trails Advocacy Group, Olympic National Park, and U.S. Forest Service (ex-officio member).
