City of Forks Public Works Director Dave Zellar reported in a phone call to the Forum that stop signs at Klahndike and Little John Lane would be reinstalled sometime this week. Zellar went on to say in addition to bringing the signs back the city also is looking at ways to reduce drivers’ speed in that area.
One of the ideas being contemplated to bring speeds down are speed bumps. Another idea is speed humps, which are wider than a speed bump and another option being looked at are speed tables which are even wider speed humps with a flat surface in the middle.
Stop signs at Klahndike and Little John had been removed at the request of a resident in that area. Other residents concerned with the increased speeds after the removal of the signs made their concerns known to the Forks City Council at several recent council meetings.
