Phyllis Ann Wilde Cabe

Forks resident, Phyllis Ann Wilde Cabe, 85, died October 24th, at Forks Community Hospital.

Phyllis was born on September 16, 1936, in Charlotte, NC, to Early and Evelyn Wilde. She married Rufus Franklin Cabe in May of 1954. At the age of 19 years old, Phyllis traveled from North Carolina to Washington by train with her firstborn son to settle in Darrington with her husband. Phyllis was a homemaker and mother while living in Darrington. Following the work in the timber industry, Phyllis and Rufus moved to Beaver, Washington before settling in Forks in 1970.

Phyllis worked in the shake mills in the Forks area before taking on a position with Clallam County, ending her career with the unemployment office in Forks, Washington.

Phyllis enjoyed picking fir cones and snapping green beans from her garden. She loved planting dahlias and rose bushes in her yard. Phyllis had a special touch with her flowers and enjoyed them up until her last days at home. She loved her children dearly and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. Phyllis loved to watch her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was an active member in the Bingo community, spending many evenings with her friends laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

Phyllis is survived by son Randy and wife Joyce of Forks, son Jerry of Forks, daughter Marcie of Montesano, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her husband Rufus Franklin and her beloved dog Abby.
