A Little Bit of Everything …

It was a lovely ceremony that the Soroptimists of the Olympic Rainforest held last Thursday evening, lots of scholarships and awards were given out to community members …more on that hopefully next week.

Thanks to Lonnie Archibald for attending the Fastpitch Tournament in Yakima over last weekend. Getting some great shots of a Spartan Sports history-making event. Hopefully to share more photos next week.

In other sports news, the Spartan Track and field team also did some history-making with their trip to State competition.

Coach Pam Gale shared the following … “Best year ever! Ten state medals were earned by the Spartans, the first girl’s relay teams to medal in my time here! Both 4×4 (8th place) and 4×2 (7th place) Moli Luong, Miley Blanton, Emery Damron and Leslie Hernandez Beltran (4x4team) Miley Blanton, Erika Williams, Emery Damron and Leslie Hernandez Beltran,(4×2)team .. Nate Dahlgren in the shot (3rd place ) and Camryn Kennedy in the 400 (8th place) Grady Earls and Keana Rowley came so close to a medal both getting 9th place. Grady in the long jump, Keana in Javelin. Yes, indeed the Spartans shined and jingled all the way home!”

Also more photos of Track and field next week. Pam shared this photo of the team in the parade saying … “In the parade of teams, the kids are holding Forks in their hands !! The crowd for sure knew who we were.”

In Timber Museum news the Ted Spoelstra Calliope has been on a cross-country road trip with Museum Executive Director Bryon Monohon (and Beatrice) all the way to Missouri to be repaired and upgraded …by the time you are reading this they all three should be home. The upgrade will be seen, hopefully, in the 4th of July parade.

Town was busy over the holiday weekend ….

It was a nice Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, (photos page one) former Forks residents Linda and Phil Arbeiter attended, it was nice to see them. It was a chilly day and as usual, the neighborhood chickens had a lot to say after the gun salute.

Now on with summer ….
