“Restore the 4” project to clean up and preserve the old steam locomotive on display on Lauridsen Boulevard, Port Angeles

Efforts are continuing to preserve the Rayonier #4 Locomotive in Port Angeles.
Many donors and especially groups that make grants want to see measurable support from the community before they open their pockets to help. A “guestbook” on the project website will help gather the names of people who want to see the project succeed. (Go to www.restorethe4.org and click on “Guestbook”).
An anonymous benefactor has pledged to donate $1 for each person who signs the website’s guestbook by the end of the year. It is limited to the first 750 people, but support could go higher
If you have any interest in seeing the beloved old locomotive get restored, in putting a roof over the top to keep the rain off and support building an accessible park around her to make it easier to visit, even if you can’t donate anything yourself, please go to the website (www.restorethe4.org), click on “Guestbook” on the menu, and sign the book. It really will help!
Speaking of support, by the way, Rayonier Inc. (the timber company that donated the locomotive to the city in 1960) was the second donor to the project, having pledged $8,000 to the project last year. This year, they’ve also committed to donate much of their retired computer equipment, which we’re selling on eBay which has raised, so far, another $1,000.
