ONRC Interns to Share Summer Research Experiences at Evening Talk
Published 1:30 am Thursday, August 14, 2025
The Olympic Natural Resources Center (ONRC) will host its next Rosmond Evening Talk on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Hemlock Forest Room, 1455 S. Forks Ave., Forks. The event is free and open to the public, with an option to attend virtually via Zoom at https://washington.zoom.us/j/3834334539.
The presentation, titled ONRC Summer Internship 2025: T3, PVC, and Plant ID, will be led by the ONRC’s 2025 summer interns—University of Washington undergraduates Sophia von der Ohe, Anna Perfetti, Stella Christopherson, Bella Guerrero, and Nate Wolford.
Over the summer, the interns worked and lived on the Olympic Peninsula, contributing to several forest ecology research projects and playing a key role in long-term monitoring efforts. Their work began with collecting understory species and seedling data at ethnoforestry field trials, but the majority of the season was spent assisting with the T3 Watershed Experiment. Tasks included helping with study design and implementation, installing PVC markers for plot locations, collecting data on understory plant composition, and marking boundaries between prescription units—often while hiking on steep slopes and rugged terrain.
The interns will share stories from their eventful summer and highlight the skills and insights they gained through their work.
The Rosmond Evening Talk series is supported by the Rosmond Family Education Fund.
