They were off and running Sunday morning at the Fun Run/Walk on the Rayonier Road near where the old Smokehouse Restaurant once stood. Approximately 50 joined in on the event. Organizer Erika Charpilloz reported the registration fees of about $1,000 were donated to Kassidy Contreras, who has cancer.

Cubs pitcher Drew Johnson and catcher Owen McReynolds meet on the mound to discuss a possible mix-up on their signals. If the catcher calls for a fastball and the pitcher throws a big roundhouse curve, it can be hard to catch. But then again, maybe they were discussing one of the girls sitting in the rooting section. Whatever the discussion was, the game played on. I wasn’t able to attend the entire game, but a fan told me McReynolds later pitched, earning three straight strikeouts.
