Inaugural Hoh-ly Roller – First Race of the Gravel Unravel series

The first race of the Gravel Unravel 3-race endurance cycling series took place on Saturday, May 1, south of Forks. Almost 100 racers and 50 un-timed gran fondo participants rode the inaugural Hoh-ly Roller on the backroads of the Hoh-Clearwater area. The event had 3 distances – 26 miles, 44 miles, and 66 miles, all with significant cumulative elevation gain. The long course is described as having some of the most challenging climbs of any of the events in the PNW region.

A portion of race proceeds will go to Sarge’s Veterans Support in Forks and to the Junior Navel ROTC in Port Angeles. Race Directors want to thank the volunteers at Jefferson County Amateur Radio Emergency Services for their support, and the EMT team at Norpoint Medical for being on standby.

The next race takes place in the Sol Duc area on June 5, and the final race of the season is June 26, starting and ending in Quilcene with the course climbing to Bon Jon Pass.
