Penn plays in all-state basketball game

Oregon and Washington high school

Spartan basketball player Tyler Penn was chosen to play in the USA Amateur Athletic Associations’ All-Start (AAU) competition on Saturday, March 11.

The basketball games were played in Portland, Ore. at Douglas High School.

The AAU chose Penn because they received recommendations from coaches, current and former players as well as sports writers and media sources from our community who believe his skills and efforts on the basketball court deserve there recognition.

The competition is designed to have outstanding high school basketball players perform in a three-game competition where the athletes will have top competition, coaching and possible scholarship opportunities.

The USA Amateur Athletic program represents a unique concept in basketball competition, a melting pot for talented high school underclassmen and seniors. It is designed to serve as a gathering point for high-potential young players in an atmosphere of intense competition. Players who seldom are exposed to big time spring-summer competition go toe-to-toe with players of equal or superior skills from both Washington state and Oregon.

Penn played in a minimum of three games during the competition. Every participant plays at  least half of every game.
