Trent Thurman was unable to attend the Forks Chamber of Commerce Best of Awards, where he was named the 2025 Citizen of the Year. The award was recently presented to him during the Chamber’s annual retreat. Thurman was recognized for his dedication to supporting local nonprofits and for his service as a past Chamber president. Owners Felicia Larson and Rachel Breed, seated center, cut the ribbon Friday evening at their new restaurant, Marble and Oak, 640 S. Forks Ave., marking the official opening with co-owner Arian Goodson and Forks Chamber Director Lissy Andros standing behind them. Friends, family, and staff gathered to celebrate as the ribbon fell, kicking off an evening of great food and drink. The project first began in March 2025.

Volunteers gather for a productive work day at the Slip Point Lighthouse, in Clallam Bay, where a new American flag donated by Roger Maneval was raised, grounds were cleared of debris, and initial repairs began on the garage windows. The effort marks an early step in ongoing preservation work.
Those interested in joining future work parties can apply to volunteer through the Clallam County Parks Department; applications and more information on the project are available at slippointlighthouse.org.
