You never know what Jessica Hurley will do for Valentine’s Day or any other holiday for that matter. But, she was out dressed as a smiling heart and spreading happiness and handing out treats last Friday. Her husband Titus was doing the driving as she had to deflate/inflate a bit each time she got in and out of the golf cart.

Trees have been known to kill, place thousands out of power, and crush homes and vehicles and pictured here a tree fell across the Sol Duc River just below the Maxfield Bridge north of Forks nearly shutting the waterway off to boaters and rafters.
A Forks area guide reported that a tree did fall entirely across the upper Sol Duc where the fisherman had to cut limbs in order to pull his raft across the downed evergreen. Fortunately, this tree below the bridge can be seen from at least a quarter of a mile upstream allowing boaters and rafters to adjust in time to navigate around it.
In some cases, one might round a bend in the river finding an obstacle completely blocking the passage. In many situations, trees are not all they are claimed to be. Maybe the best place for many of the evergreens which cause power outages is in the fireplace, especially during these cold winter days and nights.
