Upper Hoh Road Repairs Completed; Hoh Rain Forest Reopens May 8

Jefferson County, WA – Jefferson County announces the completion of critical repairs to Upper Hoh Road, restoring access to Olympic National Park’s Hoh Rain Forest. The road will reopen to the public on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., just in time for peak summer tourism.

Funded by $623,000 from Governor Bob Ferguson’s Strategic Reserve Fund and $27,000 in local private donations, the project was completed by Seton Construction and Jefferson County Public Works. Repairs addressed a major road failure and included coordinated work on a failing culvert by Olympic National Park crews.

Governor Ferguson praised the collaborative response, emphasizing the forest’s economic and cultural importance. A reopening celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. on May 8, with the Governor and local officials in attendance.

The county extends thanks to its many partners, including Olympic National Park, the Hoh Tribe, and state and federal agencies. For park updates, visit www.nps.gov/olym.
