Robin and Donny Shadix of Odenville, Alabama, were named this year’s Old Fashioned 4th of July “Tourists of the Day”, a highlight of Forks’ Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration.
The Shadix’s, who are retired and now spend their time exploring the country, were selected during their most recent visit to Forks, a place they first visited in 2019 during an RV trip. This time around, they stayed at Rainforest Rental, an Airbnb owned by their longtime friends Ronnie and Teresa Aldrich.
Robin and Teresa’s friendship goes back to elementary school.
During their time in Forks, the couple has enjoyed some of the area’s most iconic sights, including Ruby Beach and the Hoh Rainforest. They also enjoyed the full 4th of July experience, taking part in the Grand Parade (they thank everyone for the warm welcome they received), cheering at the demo derby, and enjoying the Lions Club salmon bake. They also received some Forks love with a huge basket of donated gifts from area merchants.
The Tourist of the Day activity dates back over 60 years as part of the 4th of July celebration.
