My New School

By Elizabeth Graeme

ASIJ (the American School in Japan) is the coolest school. You might not believe this but they have three playtimes and two snack times and lunch, I know crazy right? Also, they have a climbing wall. Oh before I talk about the classes they have a thing called the alien, it’s a swirly playground thing that is awesome. You should meet the teachers; they are so nice. Mine is the nicest out of all the others in my opinion. She has all these chairs everywhere, even in the window. And she has a beanbag, we have all been in it. It is comfy it feels like, you know, like a beanbag.

The teachers help us when we need help. My teacher, Ms. Brown has skittles in her room you can earn. And a popcorn machine that we can use to have a popcorn party when she lets us, and she has a microwave. And ASIJ has a big cafeteria and there is a place you can eat your lunch and watch tv about animals. They have four lunch lines and a salad bar, so there is always something you like to eat. It is so cool. And that is all for that.

They have a lot of extra things to do after school. Ballet, karate, tennis, swimming, volunteering, art, science, and Japan culture. I do gymnastics. I just learned how to do a front flip and an air roll! There is a late bus that brings us home after school things. Mommy says we live pretty close to the school, but the bus ride is over an hour each way! There is a bus monitor that makes sure we get on and off the right bus and makes sure everyone is good. I like the bus because all my friends ride it with me and we have fun.

And we have art, library, PE, music. So many places to go and the third-grade school is on the second floor, so high, am I right? And ASIJ is humongous and when it was really hot they would get a hose and spray it on all the kids. Our school even has a pool and this week we are starting swimming lessons! They have a lab where we go to do experiments, it’s got all kinds of things, you can make or do almost anything in there! And sometimes they have carnivals or festivals. That is all I know about ASIJ. I still miss Mrs. Echeita and Forks Elementary and all my friends.
