The Forks Spartan cross-country team is up and running under new Head Coach Hugo Lucas, and their season is off to a great start! Traveling to Ilwaco on Oct. 9, the Spartans faced seven other schools and brought home first place for the boys’ team. Leading the way were Luis Ornelas (5th), Orlando Camacho (6th), Yosgart Gonzalez (12th), Darniel Garcia-Lopez (17th), and Jesse Watson (22nd) for a team total of 62 points to secure the top spot. On the girls’ side, Lizzie Morrison paced the Spartan ladies with a strong 8th-place finish in a field of 19 runners. In all, 55 boys and 19 girls competed. The team enjoyed a BBQ after the meet.
